The Sun is out!

Journal Entry: Fri May 2, 2008, 4:21 AM
The sun is out, the green stuff is growing and ... I have hayfever. Nevertheless, its brilliant to literally be out of the fog. The Lake here is producing so much of that during autumn and winter - you can't imagine how dull and grey it is then!
Also, thank you everybody for over 2000 pageviews (although you can do better!.. no wait.. I can do better!)
I am pretty busy with University again, I would LOVE to paint more but that will have to wait till after the semester.

  • Mood: Homesick
  • Listening to: Pirates of the Caribbean Soundtrack
  • Reading: University stuff
  • Eating: skipped lunch. Shouldn't do that.

Back at the desk again

Journal Entry: Sun Mar 30, 2008, 8:34 AM
I am back again to make some ATC cards for a couple of friends, to read Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke after having completed Inkspell last week, and to make a few necessary purchases (Halbtax aka demi-tarif aka metà-prezzo for Swiss trains, student ticket for the buses here, socks, ...). Oh and if anyone has a few spare €uros - my 3 month deviantart subscription has run out and I don't have the right kind of plastic cards to extend it myself... :(
PS Later on I'll put two or three pages out of my moleskine travel sketchbook online.

  • Mood: Homesick
  • Listening to: the birdies singing outside
  • Reading: Inkdeath in German
  • Watching: the sun go down
  • Eating: nothing. I'm hungry
  • Drinking: some tea, as soon as I make some

Gone for 2 weeks

Journal Entry: Sat Mar 15, 2008, 12:44 PM
Travel journalling, here I come!

So far, so good. A kind dA watcher has noted how happy she is to see me so productive [link]
All I can say is that it really feels good to be productive and it feels 'right'. Better than studying Pragmatics, Morphology&Co by far!
Unfortunately I'll have to exchange the brushes with a black waterproof fineliner and the stretched watercolour paper with my moleskine watercolour sketchbook as I go visit my family up north for Easter. I hope I'll stay productive and the resulting sketches (which will be coloured in later) look nice too. After that week, I'll go for a wee holiday to Switzerland - I just can't spend two months in this student accommodation flat/room.
I'll be back.... in two weeks from Monday.

  • Listening to: a student playing e-guitar upstairs till 12am
  • Reading: The Secret Blend
  • Watching: the world go by
  • Eating: French Toast
  • Drinking: Fanta Lime

Study break

Journal Entry: Sat Feb 23, 2008, 4:20 PM
Freeeeedom! (Once again)

Finally my 3rd semester at University has finished and it took me a week to get balanced out from all that exam stress and those couple of bone fragments in my right hand wrist.
They are still there and I can't do stuff with my right hand for very long, but I gotta do what I gotta do. Draw, paint and try to improve.
So I started off with a painting of a knife for the Illustration Friday [link] competition/challenge/outlet. I hope you like it.
My to-do-list for this study break (5 weeks left) as far as art is concerned:

- a couple of Christmas cards / ideas for cards (yeah, I don't want to start working on that in November, cause that's what happened last time, and I would've been happier to come up with several cards to choose from)

- Theme of the Month on john-howe.com for March: WIP:

- draw some of those wonderful castles in the book I got for my birthday

- Illustration Fridays

- life drawings (to get my hand/eye coordination back into shape)

- ...

... erm, I should stop here before I take on too much. ;-)
So, in a nutshell, I want to be creatively productive in the next few weeks.
Feel free to keep me accountable, and if possible - inspired!

  • Listening to: the humming of my laptop
  • Reading: bible
  • Watching: MacGyver
  • Playing: with my hair
  • Eating: apples
  • Drinking: Wildkirsche Rooibos tea

I don't only have to thank her, I also have to wish her a Happy Belated Birthday - the young lady turned 22 yesterday!
Now I have a week to find out how the sub features work. :D

I wish you all a verrry Happy New Year - be safe, be warm, have a party if you can but don't overdo it! ;)
